gigaSPG is a Japanese Independent Power Producer (IPP) that develops, constructs, owns, sells and operates utility-scale solar power generation plants.
gigaSPG, stands for giga Solar Power Generator and refers to the next generation of Solar Power Plants with the size beyond the Mega Solar scale. The target of gigaSPG is to develop and construct the first gigawatt (GW) scale Solar Power Generators within 5 years. The levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) of these gigawatt scale generators is targeted to be less than coal powered electricity generation.
At this point of time gigaSPG owns a portfolio of 14 projects totaling 15 MW of peak capacity to be connected to the medium voltage network in several prefectures in Japan. The first projects of this portfolio will be connected before Q2 2016. gigaSPG is continuously active to add more projects to the project portfolio in Japan. PV plant developers that want to sell their (Japanese) projects to gigaSPG can rely on a fast due diligence and a straightforward negotiation process. In the course of 2016 gigaSPG will establish overseas offices in attractive markets to develop, construct and own utility-scale solar power plants outside Japan as well.
gigaSPG has been incorporated in Japan since the beginning of 2016 and is a joint venture between Eco Life Engineering KK and NEXPV KK. Since 2013 NEXPV KK and Eco Life Engineering KK have been working closely together. The companies have developed, constructed and sold several solar power plants to Japanese investors. This successful partnership resulted in the establishment of the joint venture gigaSPG.
Eco Life Engineering KK is a Japanese EPC company with 14 years of experience in the design, installation and O&M of Solar PV Systems of utility scale and commercial and residential size systems. NEXPV KK is a Japanese company incorporated in 1999 and since 2011 active in the field of solar plant engineering and consultancy and solar plant development. The joint venture of these two privately owned companies combines the practical knowledge of solar plant design and construction and the extensive research of cost efficient GW size solar plants.
